Description

Responsible for setting up and dismantling rigging equipment and ensuring the safe lifting, loading, securing, and unloading of heavy materials and machinery at construction sites. They work closely with crane operators, signalers, and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Rigging Setup & Inspection:
   Assemble and disassemble rigging equipment (slings, shackles, pulleys, etc.).
   Inspect rigging equipment for safety and compliance with standards before use.
   Ensure the correct selection of rigging gear for each lift.
2. Load Handling:
   Attach loads to lifting equipment using chains, slings, cables, and hooks.
   Calculate load weights and lifting angles to ensure safety.
   Guide and position heavy loads during lifting and placement.
3. Communication & Coordination:
   Work closely with crane operators, signalers, and ground crew.
   Use hand signals, radio, or other communication methods to direct lifting operations.
   Follow lifting plans and instructions from supervisors or engineers.
4. Safety & Compliance:
   Adhere to health and safety regulations on-site (e.g., PPE, load limits).
   Ensure all rigging operations are within manufacturer and industry standards.
   Report hazards, near misses, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
5. Site Duties:
   Support general construction activities when not engaged in rigging.
   Assist in erecting scaffolding or temporary structures if required.
   Maintain rigging tools and equipment in good working condition.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience as in constructionor industrial setting preferred.
• Ability to read and/or understand charts and plans.
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in outdoor conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
