The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.
CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.
As part of this programme, the lab at CCDS, NTU, is focusing on research and development of cutting-edge AI technologies in the Climate Transformation Program. We aim to create impactful applications spanning various strategic areas in partnership with academic, industry, and government organizations.
As a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the Climate Transformation Programme (CTP), you will provide intellectual leadership in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to climate research and solutions for Southeast Asia. You will spearhead cutting-edge research that bridges AI innovation with real-world climate resilience and mitigation efforts, contributing directly to national and regional sustainability agendas.
This position is integral to Cross Cutting Theme 3: Artificial Intelligence, which supports all six strategic clusters within CTP, including climate science, biodiversity, mitigation, engineering, finance, and health.

Key Responsibilities:
- To perform the pioneer research in AI for climate transformation.
- To further develop data-driven and machine learning tasks for fighting climate changes.
- Set up and analyze experiments and datasets under different conditions.
- To propose a methodology/framework in a software prototype to be developed in the project.
- To report research findings in a form of reports/papers and present in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
- To be involved in the mentoring of PhD/Masters/FYP students.
- Responsible for performing intelligent signal, multimedia, muti-modal, and multi-task processing/computing, for building open databases of climate data, monitoring and mitigating climate change, and predicting climate change and effects of mitigation
- Submission of comprehensive reports/IDs/Demos/papers summarizing/justifying the pioneer and innovative research performed
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, including industry partners, and interdisciplinary academic teams to co-create actionable climate solutions.
- Contribute strategically to the development of CTPs complexity modelling, and predictive AI frameworks.
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
- Background knowledge in signal representation/processing, data-driven and machine learning/analysis, esp in climate related topics.
- Prior research experience and track record in R&D
- Prior experience in state-of-the-art AI techniques.
- Leadership in climate transformation
- Self-driven, highly motivated, with interest to work with other researchers and scientists (as a team team player and team leader) to produce high-quality research
- Mastering of a programming language (e.g. Python, C, Matlab,etc)
- Have good technical reading, writing and programming skills.
- Have excellent experience and track record for related R&D.
- High desire for technological exploration and achievement.
