We are seeking an experienced System Design Manager to lead and manage the design of power supply and electrical systems for large-scale rail transit, metro, and infrastructure projects.
This role involves end-to-end design management, system integration, interface coordination, and design quality control, working closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and internal design teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Control
- Lead and manage the overall system and electrical design for power supply systems, including HV/LV substations, UPS, SCADA and associated interfaces.
- Prepare and manage Design Management Plans, design schedules, submissions, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, client specifications, safety standards, and international codes.
- Oversee design quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout all project stages.
Technical Coordination & Interface Management
- Act as the design authority for power supply and electrical systems.
- Coordinate interfaces with clients, engineers, operators, contractors, and system suppliers.
- Manage technical clarifications, RFIs, and design changes, ensuring timely resolution.
- Lead and participate in technical coordination and interface meetings, including preparation of presentations and revised drawings.
System Integration & As-Built Documentation
- Coordinate with internal design teams and external parties to produce construction and as-built drawings.
- Review and manage electrical and system drawings, manufacturing drawings, and revised design documents.
- Ensure proper document control for all electrical and system-related documentation.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Support
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design engineers.
Support project managers in technical decision-making, risk management, and programme coordination.
Assist in audits, inspections, and client or authority submissions when required.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Automation, Control Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- Strong background in power supply systems and electrical design.
Experience
- Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in electrical or power supply system design.
- Proven experience in a Design Manager / System Design Manager / Senior Design role.
- Hands-on experience in railway, metro, airport rail, or large infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Solid experience in HV/LV substations, SCADA, UPS, and system integration.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of design management, interface coordination, and system integration.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across disciplines and organisations.
- Familiar with design submission processes, technical documentation, and as-built drawings.
- Good communication skills in a multi-cultural project environment.
