The essential responsibilities of the Store Manager include:

  • Achieves store sales target, goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the daily operation of the store, allocate resources accordingly to ensure business objectives are met and within procedures/guidelines; ensures effective utilisation of store space.
  • Works closely with the Department Managers to evaluate daily operations through proper analysis and makes recommendations along with initiating actions to enhance staff productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of the store.
  • Strategizes and liaises with all key commercial departments to drive store sales.
  • Coach Managers and staff in clarifying opportunities to drive sales and profitability, overcome challenges / obstacles, enhance morale, and ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manages stock levels and control to ensure stock availability; minimising aged and damaged stock, and minimising stock loss.
  • Monitors sales figures, analyses and interprets data and trends and discusses this information with superiors for forward planning.
  • Protects the brand image, ensuring expected service performance and customer experiences are managed and sustained.
  • Conducts regular floor walks to make sure that brand integrity is maintained; visual merchandising standards and good housekeeping standards are set and maintained at the highest level; maintains high quality in-store display with maximum cleanliness and upkeep of fixtures.
  • Ensures that product knowledge is at its peak among all salespeople.
  • Deals with Human Resources matters such as interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews and counselling, as well as ensures staff are skilled by providing, recommending or organising training and development by liaising with HR and through own in store initiatives (e.g. short quizzes on product knowledge, on the job training).
  • Develops direct reports and others to help build internal talent pool.
  • Ensures staff understands and adheres to security and operational procedures.
  • Supports Internal Audit for compliance and development of risk management for stores.
  • Ensures articulation of company’s desired image and position and assures consistent communication both internally and externally.
  • Maintaining a highly productive, experienced and motivated organizational culture within the Division/Company consistent with the Company’s core values utilizing effective Management/Leadership tools (performance measurement, skills assessment and training, process training).
  • Any other duties as per assigned.

Formal Education & Certification

  • Preferably Diploma or Degree in Retail Management

Knowledge & Experience

  • At least 5 years of retail management experience at managerial level, with profit & loss responsibility
  • Proven ability to increase sales and profitability; turnaround successes
  • Strong commercial understanding
  • Understanding of labour / retail law, company policies and procedure
