Role Overview

We are expanding our team and seeking a Senior or Principal Consultant/Engineer in Mechanical Failure Investigation. The successful candidate will:

• Be based in Singapore, with the option to reside in Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand if he/she prefer to;
• Work closely with regional and international clients on high-profile forensic investigations;
• Have a clear pathway to a leadership position, with potential to become Head of Mechanical Engineering within a few years.

Note: Level of appointment (Senior vs. Principal) will be determined based on the candidate's education, industry experience, and demonstrated technical competency.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Analysis: Review drawings, condition‑monitoring data, maintenance records, incident reports, and CCTV footage to identify failure mechanisms.
• Site Investigations: Plan and conduct field investigations across Southeast Asia and beyond.
• Testing Coordination: Liaise with third-party laboratories to define and oversee appropriate tests.
• Reporting & Presentation: Draft concise, evidence-based technical reports and deliver presentations to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Client Engagement: Represent Oskefer at client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
• Internal Support: Provide expert guidance on mechanical failure cases and mentor junior consultants.
• Business Development: Contribute to proposals, marketing initiatives, and knowledge‑sharing activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Master's degree in mechanical engineering plus ≥3 years' relevant industry experience; or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (fresh graduates encouraged to apply); or Bachelor's degree with extensive, directly applicable experience also considered.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems-including gas and steam turbines-with advanced proficiency in stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics; skilled in engineering calculations and simulation tools (e.g., finite element analysis) to rigorously validate failure‑cause hypotheses.

Analytical Skills: Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis capabilities.

Communication: Excellent written and oral English; additional fluency in Chinese, Malay, or Bahasa is advantageous, as the candidate needs to conduct frequent site visits in Malaysia, Indonesia and China and communicate with customers in these countries.

Adaptability: Comfortable working under pressure, managing multiple assignments, and travelling on short notice.
