The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) invites applications for the position of Programme Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strong technical knowledge and hardware experience of power electronics converter topologies and power semiconductor devices which are applicable for low voltage and high voltage power converter systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gate driver design, controller design, magnetic components and layout of power converter system.
  • In depth experience in solving power converter EMI/EMC issues, grounding, harmonic filtering, insulations issues, PCB routing and placement issues, etc.
  • Knowledge in electromagnetic design and constructions
  • Create test development plan and design of test rigs for validation and verification of products.
  • Support in the development activities for commercial high-power and high-voltage power electronics converters for electric drives, power supplies and power conditioners.
  • Maintain a good understanding of industrial standards (land-based, aerospace & marine) of electrical system.
  • Support staff, provide advice and relevant information, ensure their priorities are clear and understood, ensure they are working together and with the broader team productively, and complete quality reviews on their deliverables.


Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
  • Hardware Design: Lead the design of power converter hardware, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection, considering factors such as efficiency, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Prototype Development: Build and test hardware prototypes to validate design concepts and performance specifications.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test plans to validate hardware performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and design reports.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve hardware-related issues during development and product testing phases.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that hardware designs meet relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior hardware engineers.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE for circuit analysis.
  • Knowledge of thermal management, EMC, and EMI mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power converters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to understand the requirements of the power electronics application and translate into the required features and functionality
  • Excellent teamwork awareness
  • Good coordination and communication skills
