Reporting: Reports to CEO

Purpose:

1. Ensure company's Safety Management System are well updated and monitored.

2. Manage Quality System for offshore activities which includes crew, POAC (person in overall advisory control) and vessels.

Performance:

1. Ensuring that all audits are completed in compliance with the mandatory requirements.

2. Regular review of audit reports with the aim to drive continuous improvements in the auditing process.

3. Management and control of marine assurance budget.

4. Process mapping of vessel technical inspection and understudy vessel monitoring system.

5. Monitor and develop performance of SMS team.

6. Ensure periodic audits onboard vessels.

Projects and Reviews:

1. Develop and implement projects as directed by Management.

2. Develop and/or implement projects to facilitate improvement in vessel performance in areas of safety, environment, inspections and quality.

3. Periodic reviews of the projects and processes under direct responsibility.

Communication:

1. Maintain lines of communication as per reporting lines.

2. Communication with oil majors on assurance matters.

Investigations:

1. Co-ordinate investigations into incidents in close co-operation and as per instructions of Management.

Management:

1. Keep Management closely advised of developments within the area of responsibility.

General Requirements:

1. Take initiative for proper and timely action in all respects.

2. Ensure that safety is priority in all daily operations.

3. Work to reduce all accidents and ensures that lessons are learned from all accidents and near-misses.

4. Keep Management advised of developments within the area of responsibility.

5. Make suggestions for improvements and savings in all matters within the area of responsibility.

6. Ensure that proper business or economic evaluations are made prior to taking decisions so that established budgets are not exceeded.

7. The work must be carried out in conjunction and close co-ordination with relevant departments, organizations, and ship-owner entities.

8. Will continuously update this job description in conjunction with Management.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Maritime studies or equivalent, preferably with 2 years of sailing experience as a 2nd Engineer / Chief Officer.

2. Technologically driven, comfortable working in a digital environment, logical process development.

3. An in-depth knowledge of rules and regulations governing vessels' management.

4. Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills.

5. Independent, outcome driven, organized and strong team orientation

6. Has the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

7. Possess empathy towards all nationalities.

8. Experience in marine assurance in Tankers would be an advantage.
