The Opportunity

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) is looking for a Manager to join our Government Projects team.

Their key role will be to provide day-to-day oversight of the executives within our team, as they support our senior managers to deliver success on a range of projects around the world.

This role would report to one of the senior managers in our team.

Responsibilities for this role

Our managers will find themselves contributing to our projects in different ways, depending on the project need, so the successful candidate can expect to be involved in the following:

Advising executives in their work:
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of the work of our most junior team members, advising on approach, planning and quality of execution.
  • Identify and prioritise training needs and incorporate these into our planning as appropriate.
  • Provide support on ad hoc issues that arise and liaise with senior management as appropriate.
  • Act as the first line of response if our executives need management support in their interaction with our clients and external stakeholders.

Project scoping, design and execution
  • Support field research and analysis to understanding of the project environment, stakeholders, challenges and goals
  • Prepare succinct presentations and assessments on the above to CIG management, government partners and other stakeholders
  • Support project activities, e.g. workshops, facilitated discussions, design sprints, fact-finding investigations, interviews, to achieve project milestones and deliverables
  • Manage project resources in a prudent and effective manner to support project delivery

Support stakeholder management and project-related travel
  • End-to-end logistical arrangements for work-related travel to support our projects
  • Provide a top-tier partnerships and networking experience for our clients, experts, contractors and other service providers
  • Effectively communicate CIG's mission, story, brand and work when speaking or making presentations to partners and stakeholders

Experience

  • The ideal candidate for a manager role would have at 3-6 years of work experience in public-sector related advisory, analysis or consulting, with experience delivering top quality work for very senior people.
  • Supervisory or management experience is essential.
  • A good track record of smart prioritisation and objective setting, understanding impact, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are important
  • Our teams are all client-facing, so this person will need to be able to coach Executives on working with people from a range of backgrounds, cultures and levels of seniority.
  • Motivated to achieve excellence by ensuring that your work, and that of the Executives, gets completed to a high standard and on time.
  • Adaptable and resourceful. You may be asked to go beyond your specific job scope and to find innovative solutions in response to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Able to effectively multi-task. You will be managing several concurrent projects with different partners and timelines, whilst still paying close attention to the details.
  • You must believe in our mission and our goals. Knowledge and skills can be learnt over time and the organisation can commit to supporting you in that regard. However, you must be motivated by our mission and goals to want to do so.
  • The role requires a fair bit of travel so the ideal candidate must be able and willing to do this.

About the Government Projects work

Our team brings government clients around the world together with our global network of experts and top practitioners, who can speak with authenticity and give practical advice based on experience and expertise.

Our projects design and implement processes, systems, and institutions that build better public services, and stronger nations, around the world. Our work is varied, from improving Civil Service capability or institutional integrity, to realising ambitious visions for High Performance Governments and more.

Our approach is sustainable (we aim for long-term changes that can outlast our projects), practitioner-focused and uses a range of proprietary methodologies. The successful candidate will be expected to align with our values, understand our methods and help us learn, from project-to-project, through Rapid Incremental Improvement.

Work Arrangements

CIG adopts a hybrid working arrangement which allows for a mix of in-office work and telecommuting, either from Singapore or other countries.

The role will be based in Singapore and require regular global travel.
