This is a fixed-term role of 6-months only. The suitable candidate is expected to hit the ground running on a time-sensitive client project from day one due to the short-term nature of the role.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will work with our Firm's client services teams and directly with a client in the commodity trading industry.

In this role you will help our client solve some of their most pressing problems regarding their trading organization and growth strategy. You will also work with a range of subject matter experts in the Firm.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll work in teams of typically 3 - 5 consultants with a similar background in commodity trading and mining. You will be responsible for planning, conducting and delivering your stream of work to identify, co-develop solutions and oftentimes support the implementation for specific client problems related to their trading business.

Together, you will help clients make lasting and sustainable improvements to their trading function and achieve their financial, human and corporate objectives.

Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate, and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations. You'll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. In some cases, you will be asked to travel to your client site.

REQUIREMENTS

• Trading experience is a must: 1-3 years of trading experience is required, with a strong preference for expertise in commodity trading, including familiarity with market dynamics, risk management, operating models in trading houses (front, middle, back offices), finance, IT solutions for commodity trading and risk management, and trading operations
• Mining sector expertise: Prior experience working with mining clients is essential, particularly in developing operation models, looking at supply chains, and developing origination strategies in multiple commodities
• Senior stakeholder management: Extensive experience in managing and conducting workshops, meetings, and interviews with senior client stakeholders on a daily basis is required. This includes the ability to build trust, facilitate discussions, and drive actional outcomes
• Project Management Office (PMO) set up: Demonstrated experience in establishing a Project Management Office function within a business unit to drive outcomes is required
• Undergraduate degree combined with at least 1 year of work experience.
• As this is a short-term role involving work on urgent projects, prior internship or work experience in a top-tier management consulting firm and knowledge of top-tier consulting firm methodologies are highly advantageous.
• Familiarity and exposure to working with Australian mining companies would be a bonus.
• Proficiency in these technologies for internal and external communications: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Slack, Box and Sharepoint.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
