Paradox Singapore is seeking a Banquet Manager to oversee the smooth operation of all banquet and event functions at our prestigious hospitality venue in the Clarke Quay Central Region. You will be responsible for the profitability and performance of the Banquet Department and ensuring exceptional service delivery to all our clients.

What you'll be doing
  • Oversee daily operations of all events, customer service, staff work schedules, cashiering, food supplies, maintenance, repair, cleaning, restocking schedules and administrative operations.
  • Lead and manage the Banquet team in all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed.
  • Oversee the actual set-up and service of functions by giving specific menu information and assigning duties to the team, coordinating the timing of the events with the Culinary Team to ensure the success of the function.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to maintain food quality and ensure its timeliness and accuracy of delivery and setup for all events are achieved.
  • Assist clients in planning special events and providing creative solutions to clients.
  • Maintain ambiance by controlling lighting, background music, linen service, glassware, dinnerware, utensil quality and placement, monitoring food presentation and service.
  • Participate in regular BEO meetings with Culinary and Sales teams to ensure the needs and expectations of the event organizer are being met.
  • Establish excellent relationships and build rapport for guest/customers retention, and coordinate sales activities with the rest of the sales team.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with various departments and co-workers.
  • Provide completed Banquet Event Orders to team and handle quality assurance with all requests.
  • Communicate with team during daily briefings and conduct monthly department meetings.
  • Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ensures function space and corresponding heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained.
  • Review comment cards and share guest satisfaction results with the team.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Provide immediate attention to guest complaints and provide appropriate service recovery. To follow up and to establish correct procedures to prevent future recurrence.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction to ensure retention and growth of business through referrals and repeat events.
  • Empower the team to provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in event management and integrates into the operation in a timely manner.
  • Generate new ideas for service and products to maintain a competitive and leading edge.
  • Work with superiors to develop plans to address key business issues so to achieve desired results.
  • Guide the team to find new ways to generate revenue and enhance the customer experience.
  • Review effectiveness of event operations annually and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Recruiting, training, and motivating staff, as well as maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, health, and safety.
  • Ensure that new recruits have all relevant information before commencing employment.
  • Assist with planning and ensuring departmental orientation is carried out.
  • Identify the developmental needs of the team. Coaches, mentors, or help to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Conduct appraisals, performance, or disciplinary related reviews with the team.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the team, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Implement and comply with succession plan.
  • Prepare annual outlet's budget and update monthly forecast with Director of F&B / EXCO / Deputy Head.
  • Meet/exceed Business Unit annual Budget and strategic F&B goals.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain control measures which have impact on food costs, beverage costs, labour costs and operating supply costs and to be in line with budget.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Management.

What we're looking for
  • Minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience
  • Well-informed with regards to the fast-moving trends of the F&B scene
  • Comprehensive knowledge of catering equipment and venue requirements, computer software programs (MS Office, POS, etc.)
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous.
  • Ability to apply creative solutions and problem-solving approaches to situations.
  • Ability to lead, train, coach and develop staff.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task and work under pressure while still being detail oriented.
