KK Women's and Children's Hospital is a tertiary referral centre in Singapore, offering a full range of comprehensive and integrated, medical and surgical specialist care for women, babies and children. As the largest and only integrated women and children's hospital in Singapore, it has 830 beds and is served by over 3,000 dedicated healthcare professionals. We seek passionate and highly competent professionals to join our dynamic team of clinicians in the following positions:

The Children's Emergency provides initial evaluation, stabilisation and treatment to acutely ill or injured infants and children.

The doctor will be responsible for the total management of patients under the charge of the specialist in the department.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Resident Physician should perform at the same level of duties (including calls) and responsibilities (same roster) of a medical officer and/or Basic Specialty Trainee. Their competence will be individually assessed by the Head of Department and thereby given clinical duties accordingly.

2. They are immediately responsible for the total management of patients, under the charge of the specialists, with whom they are assigned to work and by whom they will be supervised.

3. Resident Physicians have the duty of assisting, guiding and supervising the House Officers in their duties. Cass should review all new cases as soon as possible following admission and check on the House Officer's findings and notes (where applicable). These notes should then be countersigned by the Resident Physicians, who should record their findings, differential diagnosis and suggestions for the management of the case.

4. Resident Physicians are allowed to write medical reports. Urgent reports should be prepared within a week and non-urgent reports within two weeks.

5. Resident Physicians are responsible to ensure the accuracy and completion of the Hospital Inpatient Discharge Summary (HIDS) Forms and the diagnosis & disease index on the front sheet of the case records. In cases of difficulty the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) should be consulted.

6. Resident Physicians are responsible for assisting the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) in the running of Specialist Outpatient Clinics. They should not make any major changes to the treatment regime or discharge long-term patients from follow up without the prior approval of the Senior Medical Staff.

7. Resident Physicians should update relatives on patients' conditions.

8. Resident Physicians are permitted to explain procedures to patients and their relatives, as well as obtaining consent for such cases, if so designated by their Senior Medical Staff.

9. Resident Physicians are permitted to sign Death Certificates and obtain consent for autopsy of deceased patients.

10. Resident Physicians should inform the Senior Medical Staff of any major problems and discharges against medical advice. They are permitted to counsel patients who wish to be discharged against medical advice.

11. Resident Physicians are obliged to participate in their department's teaching activities as directed by their HOD.

12. Resident Physicians should perform any other medical duties as directed by the senior medical staff in their respective departments. They should be prepared to cover the duties of junior doctors when the need arises.
