Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all types of sushi, including maki, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
  • Monitor inventory and place orders for seafood and supplies as needed.
  • Innovate and contribute to seasonal or promotional sushi menu items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station.
  • Interact professionally with guests when working in open kitchen or sushi bar environments.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff if required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a Japanese or Asian restaurant.
  • Expertise in various sushi types and Japanese cuisine.
  • Exceptional knife skills and knowledge of fish cutting and storage.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of food presentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Culinary school diploma or relevant certification is a plus.
