What we're looking for

We are seeking an accomplished B2B conference sponsorship sales professional to lead and drive revenue growth across a high-value international event portfolio. This senior role offers a unique opportunity to maximise commercial potential by leveraging cross-business relationships and shaping strategic sales initiatives. You will play a key part in identifying, developing, and converting high-level sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, while also contributing to the broader commercial direction of the events business.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead by example which includes mentoring junior colleagues, refining sales processes, and contributing insight to product development and sales strategies. You will manage sponsorship sales across a portfolio of approx. five flagship events annually, with an emphasis on multi-event, multi-year partnerships and global account development.

International travel is required, both for business development and onsite delivery, ensuring premium client experience throughout the sales cycle.

The Argus Media conferences division work closely with our price reporting team to put together state of the art, knowledge sharing B2B conferences focused on the commodities markets.

These physical and hybrid conferences are focused on the following speciality areas: crude oil, generation fuels, LPG, oil products, chemicals, fertilizers, and metals. With a global portfolio of 30 conferences and digital products - Argus conferences bring together communities in their respective sectors to network, consume insight and consolidate business relationships.

What will you be doing
  • Drive high-value, consultative sales to senior-level clients, consistently exceeding revenue targets.
  • Take ownership of the commercial strategy for your event portfolio, including pricing, positioning, and partnership models.
  • Identify and convert new global business opportunities, while strengthening relationships with existing key accounts.
  • Lead on major deal negotiations, tailoring complex packages to maximise both client ROI and event profitability.
  • Foster multi-event, long-term partnerships through insight-driven account management.
  • Provide regular, accurate forecasting and pipeline management across all events.
  • Mentor and support junior sales team members, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop sector expertise to inform client engagement strategies and contribute to event development.
  • Represent the business at industry events and meetings, strengthening the brand and expanding commercial reach.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, production, operations and editorial teams to align client needs with content and strategy.
  • Ensure outstanding client service pre-, during and post-event to foster repeat business.
  • Contribute to internal planning sessions with data-led insights and commercial feedback.


Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years' experience in B2B conference sponsorship sales, with a strong portfolio of closed high-value deals.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering and consistently exceeding significant revenue targets.
  • Proven ability to develop and close complex, bespoke commercial partnerships with C-suite and senior-level stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of value-based sales methodology and the ability to apply it across different market segments.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse trends and influence event commercial direction.
  • Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with strong business acumen and a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management capabilities.
  • Fluent in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and proficient with proposal tools, presentation software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively across global teams and time zones.
  • Comfortable travelling internationally to meet clients and attend events as required.

Travel
  • Frequent business travel is expected to conferences and for business development.


Hours
  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion to support conference delivery.
