To support the Repair Manager in the planning, supervision, and execution of structural repair works, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. The Assistant Repair Manager plays a hands-on role in coordinating field activities, ensuring resource availability, and maintaining high standards of workmanship. This position is key to ensuring smooth project execution and compliance with technical and safety requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
• % of repair tasks completed within scheduled timelines
• Number of safety or quality non-conformities reported
• Accuracy of documentation and reporting (e.g., logs, reports)
• Manpower and resource utilization efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification:
• Trade Certificate or Diploma in Boiler Making, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Singaporean or PR.
Minimum Experience:
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in boiler making and structural repairs, including at least 1-3 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
General Skills:
• Strong technical understanding of pressure vessels, structural steelwork, and piping systems.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and repair specifications.
• Skilled in job coordination, troubleshooting, and resource management.
• Solid understanding of HSE standards and compliance protocols.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to lead, train, and support team members effectively.
• Willingness to travel and work in shipyards, offshore sites, or industrial locations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist the Repair Manager in planning, organizing, and supervising repair work including welding, fabrication, and structural assemblies.
- Interpret and review engineering drawings, repair scopes, and specifications to guide on-site repair activities.
- Coordinate manpower, tools, and material allocation in line with daily repair requirements.
- Monitor work progress and ensure repairs are completed on schedule and in compliance with HSE and quality standards.
- Perform on-site troubleshooting and provide technical solutions to ensure work continuity.
- Support the procurement and inspection of repair materials and consumables.
- Maintain accurate repair logs, inspection reports, material usage, and crew timekeeping.
- Liaise with project supervisors, quality inspectors, and safety officers to ensure seamless communication and operations.
- Enforce safe working practices and promote a safety-first culture on site.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior boilermakers and welders.
- Assist in mobilization and demobilization of repair teams for shipyard, offshore, or industrial site projects.
- Participate in post-repair reviews and recommend process improvements.
