We are looking for suitable candidate with Doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering with an outstanding academic (preferably with emphasis in structural metals) and research record. A highly motivated team player who supports as well as initiates research ideas across several metal related projects which may include areas in recycled Aluminum alloys, superalloys, ODS alloys, RAFM/CLAM, etc. These projects may include design/fabrication/heat treatment of alloys for improved mechanical properties via tensile, fatigue, creep and fracture tests. As well as correlating them to microstructural and phase distribution using material characterization techniques such as OM, SEM, EBSD, XRD, XRF, TEM, etc. In addition, to write top-tier journal articles and reports. Prior experience in powder metallurgy, mechanical alloying, for nuclear applications preferable.

Job Requirements
The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, characterize, and evaluate advanced metallic and composite materials for extreme environments.
- Perform material fabrication, mechanical testing, and microstructural characterization of metallic materials. Especially, powder metallurgy fabrications, high-temperature mechanical testing, and fatigue/fracture testing will be the research focus.
- Collaborate with project team members and group leaders to prepare research proposals, as well as achieving OKR (Objectives and Key Results) deliveries.
- Author high-quality scientific publications and contribute to patent development.
- Work with academics, research staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the development of research projects.
Job Requirements
- Doctorate in Metallurgy or Materials Engineering, preferably with a focus on structural metals or composite materials.
- Strong publication record and/or relevant industry experience.
- Expertise in fabrication techniques (e.g., powder metallurgy or additive manufacturing), mechanical testing (especially nanoindentation, fatigue, fracture, and high temperature tests), and microstructural characterization (SEM, EBSD, TEM, XRD) for metallic materials.
- Experience in effects of ceramic particles on the structural performance of metal alloys preferable.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective teamwork skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
