Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is a globally renowned institution celebrated for its leadership in science and technology innovation. The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS), at NTU invites applications from outstanding candidates for the prestigious Lee Wei Nam Professorship in Life Science, a distinguished full professor position.

We are seeking a visionary and internationally recognized scholar to lead cutting-edge research and education in one or more of the following areas:
  • Plant Science
  • Plant Engineering
  • Plant Synthetic Biology

Together with the recent Singapore National Initiative in global talent strategy, the professorship will provide an extremely competitive package for developing top-notch interdisciplinary research and leadership at the international level.

Position Overview

The Lee Wei Nam Professorship, supported by the Life Science Fund, is an endowed chair designed to attract a world-class scholar with an exceptional record in Plant Science, Plant Engineering, or Plant Synthetic Biology. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of plant science fields through transformative research and leadership at NTU. This endowed professorship reflects our strong commitment to advancing life sciences with societal and environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in research, education, and academic service.
  • Develop and sustain an internationally recognized, externally funded research program in the field of Plant Science, Plant Engineering, or Plant Synthetic Biology.
  • Mentor junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the university.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth and visibility of the department and university.

Qualifications
  • A PhD in Plant Biology, Plant Engineering, Plant Synthetic Biology, or a closely related field.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly achievement, including:
  • High-impact publications in top-tier journals.
  • International recognition and awards.
  • Strong record of research funding.
  • Proven excellence in teaching and mentorship at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic and/or research institutions.
  • A collaborative spirit with a vision for advancing innovation in life sciences.
