Introduction
With recent Singapore Government announcements on the development of World Class facilities at Kallang, increased international events, enhanced high performance support and with SEA Games being hosted by Singapore in 2029, it is an exciting time to be in Sport in Singapore.
Over the past few years, Singapore Gymnastics has hosted the 2023 Senior and Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships and will be hosting the 2025 Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships. This past year, we achieved our first ever podium placings at the 2024 Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in both men and women. In addition, Singapore Gymnastics will be producing a new business plan for FY2026-2029.
Singapore Gymnastics is offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team in the key support role of Performance Development Manager, focused on improving international performances of Singapore Gymnasts on the international stage. It is important that Singapore Gymnastics maintain a prominent presence to enthuse and encourage more young people to take part in gymnastics, to unite the nation and inspire the Singapore Spirit.

Building the physical literacy of the Nation by promoting gymnastics as a key fundamental movement activity that forms the basis of all sports.
The Role
The Men's Artistic Gymnastics National Head Coach will work closely with the Performance Development Manager (PDM), Performance Director (PD) and Technical Advisory Council (TAC) to enhance the performance of gymnasts at the MAG NTC, developing long-term and annual plans for athlete progression, including talent recruitment and transitions. They will create training schedules aligned with the FIG Code of Points, recommend competitions, and provide coaching in technical, physical, and psychological strategies while monitoring athlete progress.
The coach will ensure discipline, well-being, and injury management for gymnasts, support the National Programme, assist in talent identification, and lead coach education initiatives.
Additionally, they will prepare performance reports, mentor national coaches, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and foster relationships within the gymnastics community, while adhering to Singapore Gymnastics' Child Safe Commitment Statement and performing other duties as assigned by Performance Director.
The successful candidate will:
1.
Performance Development
Implement the Singapore Gymnastics Performance Development Plan, part of the FY2026-2029 business plan, in collaboration with the Performance Director.
Assist the Performance Development Team in delivering an excellent developmental programme across all MAG NTCs.
2. Training and Competition Preparation
Develop key areas of athletes, including:
• Technique - Ensure high-level skill execution and precise technique across all apparatus, using individualized coaching and video analysis.
• Physical Preparation - Design age- and skill-appropriate conditioning programs emphasizing strength, flexibility, endurance, and injury prevention.
• Movement Quality - Develop smooth transitions, controlled, and sharp movements to enhance routine flow and presentation.
• Competitive Readiness - Prepare athletes mentally and tactically for competition through routine consistency and stress management.
• Athlete Pathway - Create clear development pathways from beginner to elite, fostering long-term growth and wellbeing.
• Coach Leadership - Lead and support the coaching team through best practices and ongoing education to ensure program excellence.
3. Curriculum and Training Delivery
Develop comprehensive yearly planning instruments ensuring regular updates and adjustments to keep it aligned with national and international calendar and performance standards.
Create a targeted training program focused on the development of balances, rotations, and jumps/leaps, tailored to the specific needs of each athlete.
Emphasize a process-focused approach to performance development, aligning with long-term goals and systematic improvements.
4. Collaborative Environment
Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Performance Development Staff, Coaches, Parents, and Athletes.
Build relationships with external partners, such as the High Performance Sports Institute (HPSI), affiliated clubs, and coaches.
5. Performance Development and International Success
The Men's Artistic Gymnastics National Head Coach will be instrumental in developing annual training plans, fostering a safe and healthy training environment, and closely monitoring athlete health and injury management. The coach will focus on enhancing athletes' difficulty levels, execution and align with the latest FIG Code of Points (2025-2028). Training plans and all other matter/requirements will be collaboratively discussed and agreed upon with the respective coaches.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics and qualifications:
• Self-motivated with a passion for competitive sport and a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.
• Flexible and adaptable, with a "can-do" attitude.
• Collaborative, open to new ideas, and capable of engaging with a team.
• Responsible, accountable and an effective communicator in spoken and written English.
• Educated to degree level either in sport or related-areas. FIG Coaching Academy Level is a plus.
• Experience working with performance sports especially in MAG.
Key Outcomes
1.High-Quality Daily Training Environment (DTE)- Ensure MAG NTC provides world-class training conditions.
2.Support Coaching Team- Provide healthy and safe working environment for coaches.
3.Deliver Presentations and Share Expertise with Community- Mentor national and club coaches, fostering a stronger gymnastics community, provide presentations at Singapore Gymnastic Programmes/Symposiums/Courses.
4.National and International Succes- Ensure that MAG NTC athletes are qualified for the National Squad (Juniors and Seniors). Ensure MAG NTC athletes are preparing for major competitions and are able to be at finals/podium level.
5.Re-build/Renew the Current NTC- Ensure there are clear entry/exit criteria to MAG NTC, prepare exam leave structures, increase the training hours/sessions in MAG NTC, overview the current NTC and recommend changes that for improvement.
