Job Summary

This role involves working closely with Student Care Services (SCS) Heads, Senior Student Mentors, and Student Mentors to support after-school programs and services. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of primary school children while fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Additionally, you will assist with various tasks as assigned by senior staff to enhance the overall experience for the students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for primary school children in an after-school setting.
  • Create a home-like atmosphere where students feel comfortable while their parents are at work.
  • Instill core values such as Truth, Justice, Freedom, and Love in students through daily interactions and activities.
  • Supervise homework completion and equip students with essential life skills.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging social and recreational activities to promote well-rounded development in areas such as social, moral, emotional, and intellectual growth.
  • Manage classroom-related administrative tasks, including maintaining student progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents and respond to inquiries when required.
  • Support the implementation of programs aligned with the organization's mission, policies, and guidelines.
  • Assist the Centre Manager with planning and administrative duties.
  • Identify students who may need additional support and work with the Centre Manager to address their needs effectively.

Requirements

  • GCE 'O' Level or higher is preferred, but candidates with a minimum GCE 'N' Level or relevant experience in child or student care will also be considered.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred; mid-career switchers are welcome.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Ability to engage, support, and mentor primary school children in a nurturing and age-appropriate manner.
  • Comfortable providing basic academic support in English and Mathematics, with the ability to communicate effectively with students who may be more familiar with Chinese.
  • Strong classroom management skills using positive discipline strategies.

Core Competencies

  • Passionate about child development and well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and create a positive learning environment.
