The NMRC Young Individual Research Grant (YIRG), awarded to Dr. Gowtham Subramanian, focuses on investigating the efficacy of belinostat analogues in maintaining skin homeostasis and repairing barrier defects in atopic dermatitis (AD). The laboratory at A*SRL is seeking a motivated Research Officer to support this project by conducting laboratory experiments on various in vitro and ex vivo skin models, as well as performing experiments related to ex vivo and in vivo mouse models of AD.

The successful candidate will work closely with multiple project teams, contributing to research activities that align with the goals of the YIRG project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments on human and mouse skin models to study skin barrier defects and repair mechanisms.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture, fluorescent staining, confocal microscopy, and molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction and sequencing.
  • Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation to advance research objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure smooth execution of research tasks.
  • Maintain laboratory records, protocols, and compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience working with human and/or mouse skin.
  • Strong foundation in mammalian cell culture techniques.
  • Experience with fluorescent staining and confocal microscopy.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, DNA/RNA extraction and sequencing methods.
  • Experience handling animal models for skin research is an advantage.
  • High level of organizational skills with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot experimental issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team.
  • Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and adaptability in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Highly resourceful, professional, and detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new techniques.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality research output.
