We are seeking a full-time Senior Physiotherapist to join our team at Rehab Matters Pte Ltd. We are the leading cardiopulmonary physiotherapy group dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to individuals with chronic disease. Our team is committed to delivering the highest standards of treatment and service to improve the well-being of those we serve.

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and chronic diseases in both clinic and home settings. You will also be responsible for promoting physical fitness and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle to the public through ad-hoc community outreach programs and education workshops.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, including cardiac conditions like heart failure, myocardial infarction, and arrhythmias, as well as pulmonary conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (SOPD), asthma, and interstitial lung diseases.

• Other diseases include chronic conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, chronic kidney disease, frailty, and general geriatric ailments.

• Perform physical assessments, including auscultation of the lung, measurement of vital signs, assessment of respiratory function, muscle strength testing and evaluation of exercise tolerance.

• Review medical histories, diagnostic test results, and other relevant information to develop a holistic understanding of patient's condition.

Treatment Planning

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practice guidelines.

• Design exercise programmes to improve cardiovascular fitness, respiratory function, and overall functional capacity.

• Implement airway clearance techniques and breathing exercises to improve lung function and promote secretion clearance.

• Provide education on disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures to empower patients in self-management.

Intervention

• Administer therapeutic interventions such as manual techniques, chest physiotherapy, and respiratory muscle training to optimize respiratory mechanics and enhance pulmonary function.

• Monitor patients during exercise sessions, adjusting intensity and duration as needed to ensure safety and efficacy.

• Utilise specialized equipment (e.g. 1-lead ECG, pulse oximeter, incentive spirometer, AeroBIKA, threshold PEP, IMT, TENS, NMES etc.) to support interventions.

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure interdisciplinary communication.

• Escalate medical abnormalities to primary care doctor as soon as possible via phone call or email/Whatsapp

• Refer relevant clients to other healthcare professionals for holistic care (e.g. referral to nutritionist for diet control; referral to speech therapist for dysphagia etc.)

• Writing physiotherapy memo for primary care doctors to update patients' progress.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Monitoring patient progress regularly, reassessing functional status, symptoms, and response to treatment interventions.

• Use appropriate outcome measures to define progress objectively.

• Modify treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessment findings and patient feedback.

• Document treatment sessions, progress notes, and outcome measures in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.

Education and Training

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy through ongoing professional development activities (e.g. attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education courses).

• Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues through in-service training sessions, case presentations, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities.

• Provide education and support to patients' families and caregivers, equipping them with the relevant skills and resources needed to manage patients' cardiopulmonary conditions effectively.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues for handover of cases, case updates etc.

• Collaborate effectively with other members of the interdisciplinary team (e.g. nutritionist, doctors, psychologists etc.) to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care delivery, exchange relevant information and facilitate transitions of care.

• Foster open communication and rapport with patients and their families, addressing concerns, answering questions, and providing support through the treatment process.

Continuing Education

• Invest in professional development by pursuing continuing education opportunities relevant to your practice.

• Update management on courses that you are interested in attending for the financial year.

Public Education

• Assist with planning and conducting workshops, public talks to promote the role of physiotherapy in chronic disease and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Requirements:

• Degree in Physiotherapy

• Certified physiotherapist under Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the cardiopulmonary specialisation

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Enjoy meeting and helping people

• Computer literate (Microsoft office, Canva)

• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player

• Willing to travel to clinics (Novena Royal Square Medical Centre and Guthrie House) and for home visits
