Job Description
The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Vinogradov (NUS Presidential Young Professor; lab website: https://vinogradov.science) on the discovery of natural product-like peptides with designed bioactivities for drug development applications. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining lab facilities and ensuring the safety and compliance of lab activities.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
• Conduct mRNA display experiments and the associated biochemical work
• Present oral research updates in group meetings and written updates
• Conduct regular upkeep of lab assets, ensuring facility integrity and functionality
• Ensure the safety and compliance of lab activities
• Coordinate the procurement of lab equipment and consumables
Qualifications
BSc/MSc degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, chemical engineering or cell biology. Candidates interested in eventually pursuing advanced degrees (MSc/PhD) will be prioritized.
Skills:
• Strong interest in at least one of the following areas: biochemistry, enzymology, combinatorial chemistry, deep learning, drug discovery, mRNA display, and bioorganic chemistry
• Prior research experience with basic biochemical techniques (PCR, PAGE, etc)
• Prior publications are not required but will be considered an asset
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Experience:
At least 1 year of primary research experience in biochemistry/cell biology
