Job Description / Duties:

• This is for the position of a Legal Counsel based in Canon Singapore, the regional headquarters for the group's sales and marketing operations with subsidiaries and distributorship presence across more than 22 countries.
• You will be part of a legal & regulatory team that reports to the General Counsel
• You will have the opportunity to embark on legal matters relating to both the company's Singapore and regional operations, interact with stakeholders at all levels and be exposed to a wide range of businesses.

Your work will include:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of commercial and other day to day contracts
• Advising on general legal & regulatory matters
• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of policies, processes and education for legal risk management & awareness
• Communicate with Japan HQ on reporting and approval matters

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Law
• More than 3 years practice and/or in-house experience
• Strong foundation in commercial law
• Strong communication, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Independent, pro-active and with a good commercial mind
• Excellent written and verbal communication in both English & Japanese as this role will need to liaise frequently with headquarters in Japan
