As Master Mariner Consultant (Singapore), you will deliver expert marine consultancy services to clients worldwide, including P&I and H&M insurers, brokers, lawyers, shipowners, and other clients as directed.
Primarily based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Solis Marine team in Singapore, reporting directly to the regional General Manager. You will also be a member of the global master mariner team, providing support to colleagues in other geographical regions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- The role is wide-ranging and leans on your expertise and experience in the field of marine operations, including:
- Preparing expert reports for arbitration and court proceedings in English language to high standards of technical competence and with integrity
- Investigating navigation incidents, cargo damage and other related incidents
- Attending salvage and wreck removal operations for monitoring purposes
- Performing surveys onboard vessels, which will require international travel and visits to ship-repair yards and other port facilities.
- Offering comprehensive loss prevention support to various stakeholders in the maritime industry
- Supporting the wider Solis Marine team as required.
- Being proactive in marketing, developing the business and nurturing and maintaining client relationships
- Hold a valid Seafarers medical certificate (UK Equivalent)
- You must have the physical ability to safely carry out shipboard inspections on vessels both at anchor and in shipyards and other industrial facilities worldwide, which will require fitness levels to allow safe access in and out of cargo hold, cargo and ballast tanks and other enclosed spaces.
Qualifications
- STCW Master Mariner Unlimited (STCW AII/2) Certificate of Competency (COC)
Experience
- You will have significant seagoing experience in a management position onboard vessels of over 3000 GT, have a sound working knowledge and practical experience with ECDIS and other shipboard navigation systems.
- In addition, a good understanding of the maritime industry, in particular the commercial aspects of shipboard operations and maintenance, and preferably experience in shore-based technical management.
