Intern - Biomedical R&D and Project Coordination

About Us

Tendonplus Medical is a medical device startup focused on developing a novel bioabsorbable implant for rotator cuff repair. We are currently advancing our product toward first-in-human clinical readiness and FDA submission, with a focus on preclinical validation, in vitro testing, and regulatory strategy.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Biomedical Intern to support our R&D and project execution activities. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in biomedical engineering, biology, or related fields who are looking to gain hands-on experience in medical device development, biocompatibility testing, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Timeline & Coordination
  • Assist the CEO in maintaining the development timeline across animal trials, benchtop studies, and regulatory milestones.
  • Build and update Gantt charts and project dashboards.
  • Track deliverables, deadlines, and dependencies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

R&D & Testing Support
  • Participate in in-house mechanical bench testing of implants on cadaveric or synthetic tendon models.
  • Support prototype assembly, including applicator mechanism setup and calibration.
  • Program and debug simple Arduino-based controllers (e.g., for stepper motors, sensors) used in internal test rigs.
  • Assist in setting up and documenting suture interaction tests, corrosion experiments, and handling lab instruments.

Documentation & Analysis
  • Support preparation of technical documentation for internal reviews.
  • Help compile experimental data from inhouse testing, and biocompability tests.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Materials Science, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge or coursework in biocompatibility, biomaterials, or tissue engineering is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working with mechanical testing equipment, basic lab instrumentation, and prototype tools.
  • Familiar with Arduino programming and basic electronics (motors, sensors, breadboarding, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Gantt chart tools (e.g., MS Project, Notion, or equivalent).
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
