Responsibilities:

• Develop and synthesize new polymers with specific properties tailored for various applications.
• Conduct experiments to explore the correlation between polymer structures and their physical and chemical properties.
• Analyze and interpret data using techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis to characterize polymers.
• Design and optimize production processes for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Address and resolve issues encountered during mass production, providing actionable solutions.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to seamlessly integrate new polymers into existing production systems.
• Perform tests to assess the mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other properties of polymers.
• Evaluate test results to determine the suitability of polymers for specific applications.
• Modify polymer formulations to meet performance requirements as needed.
• Record research findings and experimental procedures in detailed, well-organized reports.
• Present research outcomes to colleagues, management, or external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with relevant parties to achieve project objectives and address challenges.
• Support training initiatives for new products or process modifications within related departments.
• Provide basic laboratory knowledge training for new staff members.
• Ensure safe laboratory operations and maintain 5S standards.
• Train new laboratory staff on processes and protocols.
• Plan and schedule laboratory activities effectively.
• Manage equipment and spare parts to ensure operational efficiency.
• Oversee and maintain an accurate inventory of chemicals.

Requirements:

• A degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Synthesis Chemistry, or a related field.
• Open to fresh graduates for Junior Chemist roles.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for Chemist roles.
• Knowledge of material hazards from Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Singapore regulations, with the ability to provide appropriate instructions.
• Basic understanding and hands-on experience in chemical experiments.
• Strong expertise in polymerization mechanisms and kinetics.
• Proficiency in polymer characterization and evaluation techniques.
• Skilled in operating spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis equipment.
• Competent in data interpretation and analysis.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
• Solid project management abilities.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Self-disciplined and able to serve as a role model for others.
