The function manages all aspects of marine insurance claims, including the management of all insurance related documentation; the handling of marine claims relating to collisions, property damage (Fixed & Floating Objects), general average, salvage, pollution, cargo claims, charter party disputes, bunker disputes and personal injury claims involving passengers, crew and others. There is also a requirement to understand and support the commercial aspect of the function from time to time.

Responsiblities

• Report cases to insurers (H&M / P&I Club); collecting accurate information and documents in connection with the cases; liaising internally with other relevant departments; monitoring and managing the progress of and follow-up on outstanding insurance cases and arranging as well as packaging for the claim submissions to and reimbursement by insurers, in accordance with the authority matrix.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date claims filing and status updates in accordance with the Insurance Standard Operating Procedures.
• Arrange for H&M and/or P&I surveyors to attend the vessels in case of incidents, if required.
• Ensure timely arrangement and approval of claim invoices for payment.
• Assist Finance department on all insurance matters relating to claims and ensure accurate financial recording on the internal claims system.
• Act as a contact for emergency response and assist in responding to maritime incidents.
• Arrange pre-loading surveys and P&I vessel inspections (as required).
• Assist and handle any queries / additional requirements received from insurers and/or internal stakeholders.
• Provide statistics and ad-hoc reports to assist in the renewal of insurances or the reporting of insurance claims.
• Assist in the collection and distribution of all insurance related certificates and documentation.
• Undertake or assist in any of the functions assigned whenever the need arises.

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree / Diploma in Law (maritime options preferred)
• 2 - 3 experiences in handling marine insurance matters
• IT knowledge
• Good organisation and negotiation skills
• Attentive to details
• Good communication skills - spoken & written English
• Comfortable working under pressure
