Job Overview:

The Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. They assist in preparing ingredients, washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met. This role is essential in helping the kitchen run smoothly and providing support to chefs and other kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, and peeling vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.

Cleaning & Maintenance: Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces; maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas.

Dishwashing: Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for the next use.

Stocking & Organizing:

Ensure ingredients and supplies are stocked, stored properly, and organized for easy access by the kitchen staff.

Waste Management:

Dispose of waste materials in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring adherence to waste management policies.

Food Safety:

Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food and ingredients.

Supporting Kitchen Staff:

Assist chefs and other kitchen staff with any other tasks as required, including preparing garnishes, serving dishes, or assisting with plating.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

1. Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
2. Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
3. Physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
5. Previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
