Our client is a leading data centre powerhouse with a strong presence across the APAC region. We are seeking a highly skilled and business-minded Legal Counsel with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to support their operations in Singapore and the wider APAC region. The ideal candidate will have a background in either power/water, real estate, infrastructure & development sectors and must possess Japanese language proficiency or experience working in Japan as the market involved is Japan, requiring stakeholder management in Japanese. This role will involve providing strategic legal advice, negotiating contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters related to data centre operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including project development, construction, lease, and service contracts.
- Advise on risk management, compliance, and regulatory frameworks in Singapore and other jurisdictions where the company operates.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and business development teams, to provide pragmatic legal solutions.
- Support cross-border transactions and projects, particularly in Japan, leveraging expertise in Japanese laws and business practices.
- Liaise with external counsel and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments in the data centre, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

Key Requirements:
- LL.B. or equivalent legal qualification, with 3-5 years PQE from a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.
- Experience in power/water, real estate, or infrastructure & development sectors.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
- Japanese language proficiency (spoken and written) or prior experience working in Japan.
- Ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes in multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical skills with a commercial mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
