Legal Counsel - Financial Services

Lico Resources is partnering with a leading listed financial institution committed to regulatory excellence and strong corporate governance. We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal advice and manage legal risks across commercial and governance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and timely legal advice on a broad range of commercial and governance issues, ensuring regulatory compliance, reputational integrity, and ethical standards.
• Develop, update, and implement legal policies, processes, and training programs to manage legal risks effectively.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and update legal documents, including policies, agreements, standard terms, and templates, ensuring robust legal safeguards.
• Monitor and provide regular updates on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, including potential risks or breaches.
• Stay informed on developments in financial services, exchanges, and clearing house regulations to assess and manage potential legal risks.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years' experience as a Legal Counsel, preferably within the financial services sector.
• Expertise in the following legal areas:Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), including sale and purchase agreements and joint ventures.
  Technology-related legal matters, including software licensing, service level agreements, and outsourcing.
  Insolvency laws, particularly principles of set-off and novation.
  Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and licensing regulations.
  Marketing and sales laws across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify patterns, anticipate consequences, and provide pragmatic legal solutions.
• Strong analytical skills for legal research and issue assessment.
• Proven ability to manage projects, cross-functional teams, and external legal counsel while controlling legal expenses.
