Regional Legal Counsel (Data Protection/Privacy)

We are representing a global leading in the gaming industry in search for a regional legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading efforts to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws, particularly in the USA, Japan, and Korea, followed by the EU as a secondary priority region.
• Building and overseeing the development of data management frameworks in each key region, ensuring they align with local laws and global privacy standards.
• Advising on data governance frameworks, including data retention, classification, and access controls.
• Providing legal support for data breach incidents and assisting in the development of incident response protocols.
• Reviewing and assessing the legal implications of emerging technologies, especially in the context of data management and privacy regulations.
• Working with internal teams to create and maintain data privacy and protection policies across all regions of operation.
• Drafting and reviewing operational agreements, including service agreements, licensing agreements, and vendor contracts.
• Advising on general corporate legal matters, including compliance, intellectual property, and corporate governance, while also ensuring the company upholds the highest standards of legal integrity.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and business operations, to mitigate data-related risks and ensure a secure, compliant data ecosystem.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in law from a reputable law school.
• 7-8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a legal role, with an interest in taking on a broad portfolio that includes both general counsel responsibilities and data management.
• Strong knowledge of data protection regulations, data governance, and privacy laws, particularly in the USA, Japan, Korea, and the EU. Experience in these areas is preferred but not required-eagerness to learn and take ownership of these areas is key.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills, with a particular focus on operational and data-related agreements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, frequently interacting with cross-functional teams.
