CANOSSAVILLE CHILDREN AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
A Counsellor provides care, therapy, and support to individuals and families experiencing socioemotional and mental health challenges in collaboration with various allied professionals. This involves case management for cases of low to moderate complexity and risk, as well as offering clinical services through modes such as face-to-face or online counselling and group work. The Counsellor also develops strategies, plans, and implements counselling-related programs, including crisis intervention and referrals to relevant agencies.
S/He serves the needs of individuals and families across the different sectors within the Canossian Village and the wider community. S/He works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide quality care and contributes to the Village's efforts in providing an enhanced service delivery through the Canossian Circle of Care. S/He also participates in continuing education and research as needed.
S/He should be proactive, resourceful, and possess strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

Casework - Delivery of Interventions
- Conduct routine counselling cases forstudents, caregivers/ families, including conducting risk and need assessments and delivering intervention plans over a variety of modes and approaches
- Facilitate case formulation and management for routine cases, including preparation of assessment reports, delivery of case presentations, and referrals to relevant organisations in social services ecosystem
- Provide intervention sessions in combination of individual or group format, pull-out and push-in support depending on the need of the children
- Participate in collaborations (e.g., provide consultations, co-plan activities, review progress, provide coaching) with relevant stakeholders (e.g., teachers, facilitators, and parents) to support child in achieving intervention goals and generalising strategies within classroom and home settings
- Evaluate intervention progress and outcomes using selected therapy outcome measures regularly
- Communicate therapeutic plans, outcome measures, progress and discharge criteria to clients and relevant stakeholders during review meetings
- Utilise evidence-based practices for assessment, case formulation, intervention planning, implementation of intervention and progress evaluation
Casework - Performance of Clinical Administration and Operations
- Complete documentations (e.g., intervention plans, progress reports, case notes, case updates to sectors, recording of contact hours for provision of secondment/ itinerant services) accurately and promptly, and ensure they are well-maintained
- Utilise resources in a cost-effective manner through managing individual caseload and completion of clinical and administrative work in a timely manner
Group Work
- Facilitate groupwork counselling sessions to assist participants in openly expressing concerns and emotions with the group to achieve a specific socioemotional goal, supporting more experienced counsellors as required
Education and Experience
- Master of Counselling/ Master of Social Science (Professional Counselling)
- Registered counsellor under the Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC) or Association of Psychotherapist & Counselling Singapore (APCS)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the social service or mental health setting working with families, individuals and children
- Possesses supplementary qualifications in areas such as - family therapy interventions, expressive therapies cognitive behavior therapy, trauma-focused therapy etc.
