  • To supervise and coordinate the day to day operation of vessels in his group through the Senior Superintendent / Superintendent.
  • To monitor the technical performance of vessels in his group.
  • To verify that all incoming reports from the vessels are analysed and attended as required.
  • To prepare routine technical reports and forward to owners as required by them.
  • Closely monitor the commercial performance of all the vessels in his group with regard to Charter Party requirements. Identify reasons for deviation if any and implement remedial measures.
  • To ensure that at all times the Classification and Statutory survey status is maintained for all the vessels in his group and that all surveys are carried out within due dates and that all trading certificates are valid.
  • To keep abreast with all regulatory requirements and keep the Senior Superintendent / Superintendents suitably informed.
  • To plan and monitor periodical inspection of the vessels in his group and review the reports.
  • To review and finalize repair specifications prepared by Senior Superintendent / Superintendent and follow up same.
  • To promptly act to take corrective measures when any problem is reported by the Master, Quality & Safety department or Senior Superintendent / Superintendent concerning ship's Seaworthiness, safety and pollution and to keep the COO informed.
  • To report defects/damage/accidents to authorities' class (when required).
  • To prepare the operating cost budgets of vessels along with the Senior Superintendent / Superintendent keeping in mind the latest statutory, governmental and port regulations and submit to COO for approval.
  • To coordinate with Manning department with regards to assignment of staff to vessels in his fleet as well as their performance on board.
  • To carry out vessels inspections and/or attend dry docking as directed by COO and prepare inspection report.
  • To work on the operating cost budgets of vessels keeping in mind the latest statutory, Government and Port regulations.
  • To carry out 6 monthly shipboard sailing audits as per Shipboard Management System (SMS) manual.
  • To deal with contingencies as required.
