The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Fellow on a 12-month contract at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy & Practice.
Project Title: DRivers, Enablers and pathways of Adolescent developMent in Singapore (DREAMS): The Singapore Longitudinal Cohort Study (SG-LCS) Phase 1 (Project 1).
Project Introduction: This project is part of a larger research programme that aims to examine the trajectories of educational pathways in adolescence within the broader context of education in Singapore and how they intersect with adolescent trajectories of aspirations, identity, lifestyle and wellbeing, and the broader social milieu.
This project examines the nature and longitudinal associations of, and between, secondary students' career and educational aspirations, self-identity, agency and influencing social contexts. An important goal is to identify key factors (enablers and barriers) that influence students' career-related trajectories and their preparedness for post-secondary pursuits. The project also examines students' lived experiences in their unique social contexts, how they make sense of and deal with varied experiences, how such experiences shape current and future attainments and aspirations. Topics that can be explored in this project include adolescent career management, identify formation, agency, motivation, subjective well-being and socio-development contexts.
