Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Single Molecule Biology
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) and the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore jointly invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Single Molecule Biology. We welcome applicants whose research intersects with (but is not limited to) biophysics, advanced imaging, and/or biochemistry. The successful candidate will join the vibrant School of Biological Sciences, which emphasizes fundamental and applied biology, and in association with the interdisciplinary research center IDMxS, which focuses on cutting-edge technology development for studying complex life science. The appointee will contribute to our expanding focus on understanding biomolecular dynamics, assembly, organization, and reactions in biological processes, as well as quantitative single-molecule detection. Furthermore, he or she is also expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.
SBS and IDMxS encompass a broad range of research areas-including cell biology, physical biology, structural biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, bioelectronics, molecular spectroscopy, and artificial intelligence for biomolecular function-thereby fostering numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations both within SBS and IDMxS and across the University.
SBS and IDMxS boasts cutting-edge infrastructure to support advanced cell and molecular imaging, with systems such as Airscan2, STED-FLIM, SDC-TIRF/Laser-ablation/FRAP, lattice-SIM, and cryo-EM/ET. We also offer comprehensive molecular structural analysis capabilities, including mass photometry, SEC-MALS, NMR, and a full suite of proteomics equipment. Qualifications and requirements:
- The candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (Biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline) with postdoctoral or other professional experiences in closely related research fields, preferably in single molecule biology.
- The candidates should have demonstrated in-depth knowledge, training, and extensive hands-on experience in single molecule techniques, including, but not limited to biomolecular engineering, biological sample preparation, data acquisition, calibration, quantitative data analysis.
- Competitive applicants should demonstrate significant research experience in single molecule biology with a strong track record of research productivity and interdisciplinary collaborative research.
- The candidates are expected to have adept collaboration and to be willing to work synergistically and establish collaboration with SBS and/or IDMxS colleagues, as well as to collaborate with other researchers within and outside the institution.
- In addition to developing internationally recognized research, excellent teaching ability is also expected of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to teach both general and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as graduate courses in biology. Experience in mentoring graduate students and supervising research projects is highly valued.
