This project aims to operate and develop the NIE Science Demonstration Classroom (SDC) project. Science demonstrations play an essential role in teaching and learning by sparking students' interest in scientific phenomena, enhancing their conceptual understanding, and proving highly useful in science classrooms. In addition to developing science demonstrations, this project seeks to integrate Generative AI into science learning to further enhance the effectiveness of the Interactive Science Demonstration Package.

NIE invites applications for the position of Project Officer. This is a 12-month contract post.

Responsibilities

• Developing science demonstrations and exhibits for teachers and students.
• Co-teaching science demonstration sessions with instructors.
• Preparing, purchasing, and managing demonstration materials.
• Communicating with teachers and students, including website establishment and management.
• Undertaking other project management tasks as assigned by project team members.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree, specialising in science (e.g. physics or engineering).
• A background in physics and work experience in science classrooms is preferred.
• Skills in using Generative AI, including developing customised chatbots.
• Skills in establishing websites.
• Strong communication, organisational, writing, and proofreading skills.
• Native or near-native proficiency in English.
• Proactive and able to work independently.
• A good team player.
