ARTC is looking for an innovative and experienced researcher to join the Remanufacturing Process Technology group. The successful candidate has opportunities to participate in research projects related to welding and Directed Energy deposition (DED) processes. This includes the following area:

-Understanding and optimizing process and post processing parameters for arc welding and directed energy deposition of steels, Ni-based alloys Al-alloys, metal matrix composites and other novel materials.

• Optimize and establish the correlation between process parameters, microstructure, defects, and part performances.
• Development of hybrid manufacturing processes for multimaterials forming and fabrication.
• Development of DED toolpaths and deposition strategies for enhanced part forming consistency and quality.
• Operating robot-based or CNC equipment with blown powder and wire delivery for R&D and industry projects.
• Industry engagement, proposal scoping, preparation, and presentation.

JOB REQUIREMENT

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering / Materials / Metallurgy
• At least 3 years of R&D experience in laser materials processing.
• Knowledge in directed energy deposition process or welding.
• Strong background in understanding and correlating process, microstructure, and properties in welded and additive manufactured metallic alloys.
• Effective individual contributor and collaborator.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
