A Research Assistant position is currently available in NEWRI to participate in an academic research project on tire wear particles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support research work on water sample analysis using various bioassays and perform routine laboratory techniques - (buffer preparation, water sample processing, reagent preparation, reporter assays, nucleic acid analyses etc.)
- Conduct mammalian assays and zebrafish embryonic assays
- Clearly document the experimental work performed and sample information
- Assist in reporting data for the work done
- Support laboratory procurement, inventory, maintenance, and housekeeping
- Assist in daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research activities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology or other related life science disciplines.
- Minimally 2 years of working experience in a research environment
- Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture
- Hands-on experience in cell-based assays in microplate formats and with absorbance/fluorescence read-out (eg. Reporter cell assays)
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in conventional molecular assays (eg. nucleic acid extraction and analyses, ELISA, RT-qPCR)
- Knowledge and experience on common analytical instruments (eg. fluorescence microscopes, real-time PCR, multi-mode readers, cell analyzer)
- Experience in zebrafish assays or other in vivo assays is highly preferred
- Experience in library preparation is preferred
- Meticulous, proactive, organized & able to work independently according to plans
- Good communication skills & team player
