A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Scientist to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.

The candidate will be joining the Antimicrobial Chemical Biology Lab, a newly established group in A*STAR ID Labs focusing on the development of synthetic antimicrobial compounds for potential therapeutic application against infection.

Research projects will encompass various tasks such as:

• Chemical synthesis
• In vitro antimicrobial activity testing
• Understanding mechanisms of action
• In vivo efficacy evaluation.

The candidate will be trained on project management and ideation of new studies aligning with the lab focus. They will also support the team in lab operation, safety oversight, and documenting experimental procedures and results.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D degree in microbiology, biomedical science, bioengineering, or any other related field
• Having background knowledge in AI and programming will be an advantage
• Highly motivated and passionate about scientific research
• Effective communication both verbally and in writing
• Team player
• Receptive and detail-orientated
