ACADEMIC FACULTY APPOINTMENT: The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Associate/ Assistant Professor in the field of Cancer Biology. This position calls for an exceptional, forward-thinking scientist, poised to become a leading figure in these fields. The selected candidate will engage in pioneering research and teaching, closely aligned with the School's and Cancer Discovery and Regenerative Medicine Programme's strategic research objectives and pedadogical innovations. They are expected to conduct groundbreaking, internationally recognized research that complements and elevates the School's and Programme's existing academic portfolio. The newly launched Cancer Discovery and Regenerative Medicine Programme focuses on various aspects of Cancer and Stem Cell Biology. Candidates with a strong background in genome stability, the ubiquitin-degradation system, tumour microenvironment, tumour immune response, and/or mouse and zebrafish cancer models are encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates with with expertise in cutting-edge technologies and the potential to align with the programme's vision will have an advantage during the selection process. This position encompasses a spectrum of responsibilities, including but not limited to, fulfilling various duties as assigned by the Vice Dean of Research and the Dean.

Key Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
- Research Excellence: The appointee will lead groundbreaking research in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology, closely aligning with the Programme's strategic research objectives. The appointee is expected to acquire competitive research funding and mentor research staff and students.
- Teaching Responsibilities. This position entails educating medical and postgraduate research students in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology. The appointee will utilize modern teaching methods, including team-based learning and e-learning, to foster an interactive and effective learning environment.
- Service Administration: Beyond research and teaching, the appointee will have service roles within the School or university. This includes participating in committees, and engaging in activities that enhance the academic community's overall functioning.
Primary Activities:
- Undertake high-quality research in the innovative and rapidly evolving fields of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine including immunotherapy and tissue engineering. This involves sustaining a vigorous personal research plan.
- Publishing findings in leading international peer-reviewed journals is a key aspect of this role, contributing significantly to the scientific community's understanding of these specialized fields.
- Developing pioneering research proposals, and actively seek competitive grant and collaborative industry funding to support these initiatives.
- Contribute to, support, and develop teaching and educational activities at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Contribute to, support and develop projects with other faculty in the research programme at LKCMedicine.
- Participate in academic committees and other administrative requirements as appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
- PhD or MBBS/MD degree(s) or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
- Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field.
- Significant experience and an outstanding record of research and teaching with a high level of scientific achievement, productivity, and impact in the field of Cancer and Stem Cell Biology.
- Strong leadership and management skills, ability to lead and manage a research group and work as part of a multidisciplinary team, effective communication and presentation skills, and ability to motivate others.
Additional skills that would be an advantage:
- Proven track record in international research.
- Proven track record of leadership and driving change.
- Ability to develop teams and create networks at national and international levels.
- Understanding of the academic and administrative needs of internationally recognised universities.
- Fully conversant with patient-centered approaches and new technologies in education and patient care.
