The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is seeking a highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher or recent PhD graduate to join our team. The role involves leading research on next-generation solar harvesting materials, focusing on developing and optimizing synthesis methods for novel inorganic chalcohalide photoabsorbers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in inorganic chemistry, materials science, and materials physics, and will work collaboratively across disciplines to advance renewable energy technologies and support NTU's mission for a sustainable global impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement advanced synthesis techniques, including sol-gel, solvothermal, and nanoparticle synthesis, to create novel inorganic photoabsorbers.
  • Conduct comprehensive experimental studies to optimize the properties of chalcohalide materials for use in solar cells and photoelectrochemical cells.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to integrate and apply novel photoabsorbers in optoelectronic applications.
  • Utilize advanced characterization methods such as XRD, SEM, EQE, and PL to analyze material properties.
  • Supervise and mentor junior research staff and students, guiding their projects and research efforts.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of research findings and contribute to scientific reports and publications.
  • Support and facilitate research collaborations with other faculties and researchers.

Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, materials science, or a related field, with a minimum of 4-5 years of relevant research experience, including the Ph.D. study period.
  • Proven experience in developing and formulating chemical synthesis routes for semiconductors.
  • Expertise in semiconductor fabrication and characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM, EQE, PL).
  • Knowledge and experience with solar harvesting devices, such as solar cells and photoelectrochemical cells, is advantageous.
  • Strong track record of research achievements, including publications, grants, or patents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, international, and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in process improvement, problem-solving, and project management.
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
