Part-Time Lecturer for Digital Filmmaking DF3004 Digital Film Production II
The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Lecturer in Digital Filmmaking DF3004 Digital Film Production II. The part-time position is for an undergraduate core course commencing in January 2025.
This 13-week course is a practice based introduction to the key areas of digital film production. Directing, camera, lighting, grip, and set management will be explored in the context of narrative film aesthetics and storytelling. The understanding of shot coverage and shooting for continuity are fundamental learning outcomes as are the roles and responsibilities of all members of a production, including communication, respect and collaborative teamwork. This core class forms the basis for further studies and practice in film directing, cinematography, producing and editing. The course runs concurrently with the production sound recording class.
The candidate will possess expertise in overseeing students' projects related to digital filmmaking, from initial concept, screenwriting, production and post-production to final image color grading and sound-design.
The candidate will demonstrate passion in guiding students in exploring the possibilities of cinematography beyond its current forms. This could include anything from traditional scripted filmmaking, serialized content, non-scripted content and short-format videos.
Successful candidates will have a relevant Master's and/or PhD in Film Production or related field with a track record of creative practice in film production. Past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Film Production or related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
