NIE invites applications for the position of Project Officer in the Physical Education & Sports Science Department. This is a 5.5 / 6.5 month contract position.

Project Introduction:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Officer to join our interdisciplinary team working on a cutting-edge research project titled "ASCOT: AI-powered Sports Coaching Observation Tool - A mobile application".

The larger purpose of this project is to examine how values and transfer teaching are operationalized. The direct aim is to test the enhanced functionalities of the current Coaching Observation Tool (COT) mobile application to see if replacing the labour-intensive human categorization of teacher-behaviours with the automated AI categorization, they encourage greater teacher-reflection and increases values education in sports lessons. A second aim is to demonstrate transferability of values teaching across other academic disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Management of multiples aspects of the research project, including project management, liaising with stakeholders, data collection, and analysis.
  • Collect and analyze speech and video data of physical education teachers and sports coaches using mobile applications and other relevant measures.
  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews on topics related to values and life skills education, mobile learning environments, and educational psychology.
  • Manage and monitor research grant utilization and budget expenditures including but not limited to procurements, expenditures, and billings.
  • Disseminate research findings through academic publications, research presentations, and outreach activities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators.


Requirements
  • A Polytechnic Diploma.
  • Strong background in research methodology, with experience in designing and conducting empirical studies.
  • Experience in learning environments, development, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with design principles and planning tools that are used in creating learning environments.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and familiarity with software like SPSS, R, or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Prior experience working with schools and sport organisations is preferred.
