The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is seeking to recruit talented postdoc with creative mindset and excellent skillsets to deliver the project of soft grippers, particularly on sensing in this scope.

This project is part of the Smart Gripper for Soft Robotics program, funded by NRF CREATE. The program aims to deliver soft active gripper for manipulation of objects for industry applications. The role will contribute to the project milestones in piezoelectric sensing integrated in soft gripper.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for delivering project milestones on piezoelectric sensing.
  • Formulate and design 3D printable methods for sensing arrays.
  • Integration into soft gripper with control automation.
  • Expected to develop sensing array for sensing of soft objects during manipulation.


Job Requirements:
  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields.
  • Candidate with prior experience of more than 2 years working on multiplex sensor arrays.
  • Candidate with prior knowledge on device fabrication and electrical measurements.
  • Advanced knowledge in 3D printing and inkjet printing.
  • Expert knowledge in novel materials for piezoelectricity, piezoelectric and piezoresistive sensing.
  • The position requires interdisciplinary skillset, strong communication skills and ability to manage complexity.
