Lecturer, French
The School of Humanities invites suitable candidates to apply for a faculty position in French Language in the Centre of Modern Languages at the rank of Lecturer. Candidates must have a considerable track record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development and knowledge of new technologies in language instruction.
The successful applicant will teach introductory to advanced French courses to tertiary students and develop pedagogical materials, incorporating technological innovations into the curriculum and knowledge of current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies.
The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) is a diverse department offering 15 Asian and European languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese). The centre places great importance on enhancing the intercultural knowledge and skills of the learners as well as their linguistic competence.
Requirements
Candidates who have the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
• Native proficiency in written and spoken French to teach Asian adult students
• Applicants needs to have extensive understanding of French culture acquired through professional and personal experience.
• Postgraduate Qualification in French as a foreign language (at least "Master 2 en FLE" for candidates educated in a French university)
• Proficient in English (CEFRL C1) is a must.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in teaching French as a Foreign Language in a multicultural institution of higher education or with international exposure
• Competent in curriculum development, large module coordination, and staff management.
• Experienced in managing innovative educational projects and Programme administration.
• Experienced in multimedia and computer based instructional technologies.
• Proficient in designing and delivering cultural French courses
• Excellent team player, able to integrate into the existing team and collaborate with others.
Remuneration
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
