The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is looking for a Research Fellow to work on the project titled "Van der Waals Engineering for All-Optical Neuromorphic Chip". The position requires system and device level photonic integrated circuit design, semiconductor fabrication, and advanced packaging. Specifically, the candidate will heterogeneously integrated phase change, magnetooptical, Pockels, and 2D materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Development of processes for heterogeneous photonic integration (i.e., direct bonding)
  • System-level photonic design
  • Static and dynamic photonic characterization
  • Publish in academic journals, patents, and present at conferences
  • Work in a team, and collaborate with other research groups


Job Requirements:
  • PhD in Integrated Optics / Optics
  • Experience in Semiconductor fabrication
  • Experience in Photonic device, and system design
  • Able to publish in academic journals, and present in conferences
  • Able to work well in a team, and collaborate with other research groups
  • Experience in the production of photonic layouts using gdsfactory
  • Knowledgeable in MATLAB and Python
  • Knowledgeable in Ansys Lumerical FDTD, MODE, INTERCONNECT, CML COMPILER, MULTIPHYSICS
  • Prior experience in the above will be preferred.
