The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 12-month contract at the Psychology and Child & Human Development Academic Group, with the possibility of renewable for another 12 months, given good performance.

Project Title: Psychological Aspects of Climate Change

Project Introduction: The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

As part of this programme, the cross-cutting theme of Sustainable Societies will involve disciplines in the social sciences and the arts, including psychology. The focus areas are on community communication, education, and engagement. The research objectives for psychology will intersect with others and involve understanding climate action across different social-cultural contexts in Asia, identifying the range of climate action, as well as their psychological and societal impacts, and developing an intervention to promote climate action and psychological well-being.

Requirements:
  • At least a bachelor's degree in Psychology or related fields. Applicants with a Masters degree may be considered for the position of Research Associate
  • Relevant research experience, especially literature review and proposal writing
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Ability to use online survey programs, such as Qualtrics, as well as statistical analysis programs, such as SPSS
  • Exhibits positive work attitudes - enthusiastic, proactive and take initiative, independent, efficient, and responsible
  • Good interpersonal skills and collaborate well in a research team


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct systematic literature reviews
  • Contribute to report-writing and presentations
  • Support implementation of a range of projects, including recruitment of participants, administration of online surveys, psychological assessment (including interviews), and facilitating prevention/intervention programs
  • Maintain survey datasets and data management systems
  • Behavioral coding of data and data-entry
  • Analyze data and report results
  • Provide administrative support for projects, including organizing research meetings
  • Support student projects
  • Any other tasks as assigned by PI
