The Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI), established in 2013 through a strategic partnership between NTU and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), is a premier institution dedicated to advancing the science and technology of air traffic management. ATMRI aims to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the worldwide air transport system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement experiments to evaluate the usability, efficiency, and effectiveness of new air traffic control automated tools.
  • Apply human factors principles and ergonomics to optimize the user interface of ATC systems for enhanced user experience and reduced error rates.
  • Utilize physiological sensors (e.g., EEG, ECG, eye-tracking) to assess the workload and mental state of air traffic controllers during operations.
  • Analyze physiological data to identify patterns and trends associated with high workload and fatigue.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ATC operations, software development, and quality assurance


Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, Industrial or Interaction Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in human factors research, particularly in safety-critical environments such as ATC.
  • Strong background in user-centered design and usability testing methods.
  • Familiar with physiological monitoring technologies and data analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in experimental design and statistical analysis is crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate a solid understanding of machine learning techniques and their practical applications.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
