Join Our Team at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Dr Claudio Bussi at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow / Project Officer to contribute to a project focused on the role of organelle dynamics in microglial cell function. The Bussi Lab, a newly established laboratory at SBS, is looking for a motivated candidate with excellent organizational skills. This individual will contribute to setting up the lab while being trained in advanced molecular and cell biology techniques, such as proximity labeling proteomics and super-resolution imaging.

RESEARCH FELLOW, CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, conduct, analyse, and critically interpret cell and molecular biology experiments.
  • Present and discuss data in at local and international meetings.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to PhD and undergraduate students, fostering their growth and development within the laboratory setting.
  • Preparing detailed reports and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.


Job Requirements:
  • PhD degree in Molecular and Cell Biology or related areas, with focus on organelle dynamics, intracellular trafficking and/or iPSC biology.
  • Experience in protein biochemistry or high-resolution microscopy is desirable.
  • Prior experience in CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, molecular cloning and stem cell research, or mouse in vivo work will be an advantage.

PROJECT OFFICER, CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the PI and team members to perform experiments, document results, and analyse data.
  • Assist purchasing of equipment, materials and consumables and provide general supports for the lab.
  • Maintain accurate records of cell lines, plasmids, and other reagents and materials in the lab.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Biology/Engineering or related fields.
  • Prior experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, media preparation, and buffer preparation.
  • Preferred experience and working knowledge in molecular cloning, basic eukaryotic cell culture techniques or iPSCs and confocal imaging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is essential for data analysis.
