Project Title: Development of a Quality Teaching Tool
Project Introduction:
This project aims to develop a Quality Teaching Tool to:
- Establish common standards to identify and measure key "quality" teaching practices in the preschool classroom
- Guide EC centre leaders and teachers, via self-evaluation and classroom observations, on the use of key quality teaching practices to promote learning and development of children in early to preschool years
- Bridge the gap between research and practice by highlighting key quality teaching practices that have proven to be effective, based on empirical evidence / ground experience
Requirements
- at least a Bachelors degree
- qualifications or work experience in early childhood education
- research skills (such as collecting observational data, interviewing, video-recording, audio-recording, transcribing, managing quantitative and / or qualitative data, etc.) would be preferred
Responsibilities
- To assist and work closely with the NIE Research Team and with other project stakeholders (including the funding body, preschools, Working Committee, etc.)
- To assist with literature reviews and tool development
- To assist in the distribution and collection of consent forms from the preschools
- To arrange with the preschools appointments for data collection
- To undertake data collection, organization of data, data entry, data analysis, etc.
- To assist with administrative tasks
- Any other duties assigned by the NIE Research Team
