The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) is seeking a Research Fellow for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering to lead initiatives in printed photovoltaic research. The Research Fellow involves innovative development of photovoltaic materials, mentoring students, managing side projects, and administering CET courses. The Research Fellow will collaborate across disciplines to push the boundaries of renewable energy technology and contribute to the university's mission of sustainable global impact. Teaching opportunities are also available to shape the next generation of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for spearheading research and development in printed photovoltaic technology.
  • Establish ownership over specialised lab equipment for the fabrication and characterization of large area printed, flexible photovoltaic materials and devices.
  • Improve existing photovoltaic systems by integrating novel materials and engineering solutions derived from cutting-edge research.
  • Lead and manage side projects that complement the main research thrusts.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and documentation, ensuring results are communicated effectively through high-impact publications and presentations.
  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering a learning environment that encourages inquiry, innovation, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams both within and outside the university.
  • Assist in grant writing and funding proposals.
  • Accountable for maintaining laboratory safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements associated with materials research.


Job Requirements:
  • A PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with expertise in photovoltaics.
  • A proven track record of relevant research
  • Strong analytical skills, and experience in multi-disciplinary collaboration are essential
  • Experience in teaching and grant writing is preferred.
  • The ideal applicant will demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and educational excellence
